Regarding the Song of Solomon, the text plainly describes an intimate, romantic relationship between a man and a woman. Many Christians interpret it allegorically, arguing that the bride represents the Church and the bridegroom represents God or Christ, and that the romantic language symbolizes God's love for His people.

 

However, I find this interpretation difficult to accept. If the primary purpose were to communicate God's love or deliver a divine message, it seems unusual to use such explicit romantic and sensual imagery. In ordinary communication, especially in a formal speech or when conveying an important spiritual truth, this is not the kind of language one would typically choose.

 

From my perspective, the most straightforward reading is that the book is a love poem celebrating human romantic love rather than a symbolic description of God's relationship with His people. Because of this, I find it difficult to view it as direct divine revelation.
